TROPICAL PALM PLANTS [19 species]

The Palm Family, is a group of flowering plants belonging to the monocot order, Arecales. There are roughly 202 currently known genera with around 2600 species, most of which are restricted to tropical or subtropical climates.

Palm trees have been threatened by human intervention and exploitation. Destruction of tropical habitat due to urbanization is perhaps the greatest risk to these ancient plants. Palms with a small habitat range are most vulnerable to the radical changes in their environment.
