Aloe gariepensis generally grows solitary and size varies from small to up to 3ft in height. Stems are short and erect. This is, in fact, a beautiful Aloe with variable characteristics.

Aloe gariepensis can be found growing on rocky slopes in South Africa (Namibia) where it receives full sun for much of the day. The leaves turn a distinctive reddish color in times of drought. Flowers are generally yellow.

Aloe gariepensis is not well suited for general garden cultivation. Here's a run-down:
Must protect from frost.
Will prefer placement in full-sun.
Requires very little water.
Will tolerate very poor soil (sand and rocks).

Synonym: Aloe gariusiana
