Aloe speciosa is a beautiful evergreen succulent which grows in South Africa (Southern and Eastern Cape Provinces). Red flowers are large and dense later changing to greenish-white as they open.

The narrow blue-green leaves of this Aloe may turn pink when placed in full sun. The plants are super great and I hope to have pictures soon.

Although considered sensitive to frost, I've read of an older specimen here in Texas which survived an overnight 25°F. As is the case with most Aloes, be careful not to over water.

Aloe speciosa has been granted tree status in South Africa and its national tree number is 30.5. These plants are not solitary growers and occur in great numbers in the wild. An established Aloe speciosa may reach a mature height of about 10ft.
