Aloe vera is a heavily clumping plant from the Asphodelaceae family which grows in the Canary Islands and the Cape Verde Islands. These areas are located just west of Africa in the Atlantic.

The mucilage inside the Medicinal Aloe leaves is commonly used to treat topical topical wound treatment, minor burns, and skin irritations. The gel is mildly toxic if ingested.

However tolerant to 23°F (-5°C), a minimum average temperature of 50°F is suggested. Aloe vera tolerates drought and poor soil but requires excellent drainage. Provide full sun and moderate water.
