Cleistocactus strausii is a clustering wooly columnar cactus from Bolivia and Argentina which may grow to a height of about 8FT. Stems are 2-3 inches wide with about 25 ribs.

This cactus will take plenty of water in the warm Summer months. Amazingly hardy to about 15°F if kept totally dry. Will generally bloom when quite small (about a foot tall or more). Flowers are burgundy.

Propagation is by seed as cuttings of Cleistocactus strausii will generally not root. However, it's not unusual to see five or more emerging growths from a single fallen stem. Enjoy.
